Resizing an Image

To resize this image Fireworks must take the existing 1554 by 1554 image and colors and convert it to 400 by 400 and choose the colors for these new pixels. thumb

  1. Select the image so the thin blue border shows, then go to Modify >> Transform >> Numeric Transformation.

  1. Since the dimensions need to be 400 by 400 use the drop down menu to change from "Scale" to " Resize"

  1. Enter the desired width into the box. Notice that the height will change in proportion. Most of the time this is desired. If the "Constrain Proportion" box is unchecked the dimensions can be changed independently. Doing this will distort the image.

  1. The image has been resized but the canvas is still the dimensions of the prior image. The checkered look just means the canvas color is set to transparent.

  1. The easiest way to resize the canvas to fit exactly is to use the trim canvas feature found at Modify >> Canvas >> Trim Canvas .

  1. Fireworks may still be zoomed way out. To change the level of magnification level use the menu located at the bottom middle of the document window.
