| Defining a New Site |

- Create a new folder on your desktop. Name it something like
joe_teacher_root". This is where all file used on your
website will be stored.
- Start Dreamweaver and arrange it to look like the screen on
the right.

- Select the Expand button in the
Site panel on the right. This will
expand the Site panel to make it easier
to work with.

- Click on the Site drop down menu
and select New Site.

- Select the Advanced tab. Enter a
Site Name. This name is for your eyes only.
- Local Root Folder. This is where all the files for this sie
will be stored on the local computer. At the first you created
a folder on the desktop or you unzipped the sample folder. To
tell DW where it is click the yellow folder icon on the right.
Remote info will be set up later when you are ready to upload.

- Use this dialoge box to navigate to your local root folder.
Select the folder then click Open, Select.

- Back at the Site window you should see the local root folder
at the top of the right window. If you are using the sample
files you will also see some contents. The pluses next to folders
indicate contents. By clicking the Plus
sign the folder wil expand revealing the contents.
- Click the Expand button again and
DW will go back to normal mode.

Dreamweaver is now ready to start
creating your website.
