What
to put on your site?
So you have decided to build a Web site for your classroom or
school, what are you going to publish? The most important consideration
at this point is to consider your mission and audience. Who is
going to visit your site and what information are you going to
provide? There are a few common components the make up most classroom
and school sites:
School Web site:
- Current phone numbers and email addresses of all faculty and
staff.
- Current school calendar.
- Links to Grading system, and District site.
- Links to internet resources for Parents and teachers, Pioneer
Library etc.
- Meets all District guidelines.
Teachers Web site:
- Current contact information and schedule.
- Short teacher biography.
- Up to date calendars and schedules.
- Teaching resources: handouts, study aids, etc.
- Current syllabus for all courses.
- Open Disclosure for all courses.
- Student project galleries.
- Field trip reports and photo galleries
- Curriculum map for the school year
- Internet resources for students and parents.
- Meets all district guidelines.
Looking at examples both good and not so good is a very good exercise
to help you decide what should go on a classroom or school site.
