Safety First
Our homes, schools and every building have safety devices built in to keep us safe from electrically caused problems. Those devices are circuit breakers and fuses, which are designed to break a circuit so electricity will not continue to flow when too much electricity is being used on that circuit. When too many items are using electricity on a single circuit, the wires will become hot and could cause a fire. In the case of a fuse, the connecting wire will break. With a circuit breaker a switch is thrown. In both cases no more power will flow to the problem area.
Common sense works best when dealing with electricity.
Put ONLY electrical plugs into electrical outlets
Touch electrical appliances only with dry hands.
Use electrical appliances that have good cords that are not worn or cut.
Keep electrical cords on top of carpeting, running them under a carpet can cause extreme wear.
Limit the number of electrical devices that are plugged into a single outlet, prevent overloading a circuit.
Keep away from a fallen power line.
Fly kites away from power lines.
Stay out of water/pool during a lightning storm.
Stand away from a single tree or wide-open flat areas during a lightning storm.
