WebQuest Overview

1) This WebQuest lesson is designed to help students realize how their own story is told through their personal writings, even when not intended. It is meant to increase the love of reading for pleasure and improve writing (especially editing) skills.

2) This WebQuest was designed for high school language arts students who derive little or no pleasure from reading when not assigned. A copy of a couple of Kate DiCamillo's books will be needed, including Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux and others may also be used if desired.

3) This WebQuest addresses several of the NCTE standards including:

#2)         Students read a wide range of literature from many periods in many genres to build an understanding of the many dimensions of human experience.

#8)         Students use a variety of technological and information resources to gather and synthesize information and to create and communicate knowledge.
