Welcome to The Utah State Office of Education !

Character development is the other broad goal of education, along with academic development!

Character education helps children and youth to understand, care about, and act on core ethical and citizenship values! Quality character education helps schools create a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment for every student and supports academic development. It fosters qualities that will help students be successful as citizens, in the workplace, and with the academic curriculum. It lays the foundation to help students be successful in all of the goals we have for our public schools. It is the common denominator that will help schools reach all of their goals! CHARACTER EDUCATION IS NOT ONE MORE THING ON YOUR PLATE! IT IS THE PLATE!!!

This homepage is intended as a resource for Utah educators, parents and others interested in how character education is part of the education framework in Utah public schools. In addition, numerous examples of how Utah schools and districts are implementing quality, comprehensive character education initiatives are included. This homepage also includes many resources, links to other sites, and funding information.
