Stacey ClawsonKelly Hermann is the Statewide Coordinator of Disability Services at SUNY Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, NY. Empire State College serves 18,000 students annually through 35 regional centers and units located throughout the State of New York and online through the college’s Center for Distance Learning. Kelly works with local student services professionals to meet the accommodation needs for approximately 500 students with disabilities who request accommodations. She was recently appointed to the NYS Instructional Materials Advisory Council by Governor David Patterson and is the co-chair of the Government Relations Committee of the Association for Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD). Kelly has written and presented nationally about accommodating students with disabilities in online learning at both the AHEAD and Sloan-C Asynchronous Learning Networks conferences. She is a former speech therapist who has experience in both academic support and disability services at traditional institutions and now specializes in providing accommodations at a distance with non-traditional, adult students.
