Stacey ClawsonDr. Nelson Baker is the Vice Provost for Distance Learning & Professional Education and an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a nationally recognized leader in educational technologies designed for and applied to engineering. His research pursues the creation and assessment of technology as it relates to engineering students’ learning, including intelligent simulations, tutors and virtual reality interfaces for education.

Dr. Baker’s honors include the W.M. Keck Foundation Award for Engineering Teaching Excellence, Recipient of ENR Educator for Construction's Next Generation, a NSF National Young Investigator recipient, ASCE Journal of Computing Best Paper and two Georgia Tech Institute awards, Outstanding Innovative Use of Education Technology Award, as well as the W. Roane Beard Georgia Institute of Technology Outstanding Teacher Award.
