Connie Grega is Assistant Director for Academic Outreach Program Services with the Academic Outreach Programs Office of the Graduate School at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. She has worked at the Institute for over twenty years and began in the Office of Financial Aid and then moved to the Lally School of Management & Technology before working with Academic Outreach. During her time in the Financial Aid Office, she assisted financial aid officers and both graduate and undergraduate students with the financial aid process and procedures. At the School of Management she provided course support to faculty and was the assistant to the Ph.D. Chair working on program activities and with Ph.D. students from the inquiry stage through graduation.
When Connie began her career with the distance program she coordinated the course logistics support for faculty and the publication process of each semester’s course booklet and spent some time in the marketing area of the organization. Now, she currently manages the student services, logistical course support, and materials distribution operation for distance learning. She works closely with corporate contacts, with policies and procedures for distance learning, and with department schedulers at the Institute. She is also involved with the Preparing Future Faculty courses with the Graduate School. Her education includes a B.S. in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Regents College, Albany, NY (now known as Excelsior College) and a M.S. in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Connie was actively involved with the professional organization New York State Association for Women in Education (NYSAWE ) for over five years. The last two years in the organization were spent as the chairperson. She led the 1997 Annual Conference and served on subsequent conferences for the organization along with providing other professional development opportunities for women working at colleges and universities. Connie’s latest volunteer activities include being a member of NUTN’s 2009 Conference Planning Committee; serving on a local daycare center’s executive board; facilitating faith formation retreats with her church; and participating in an enrichment program at a local elementary school.
