The Mad Dr. G. has been involved in distance and computer based learning since the mid 1970s. In 1980, as he was finishing his Masters degree in Computer Assisted Instruction, Ross Perot invited him to Texas to work at EDS. He had a stint at EDS, then one at DEC, and finally 5 years at E-Systems during which he got his Ph. D. in College Teaching with a specialty in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems. Leaving E-Systems in '92 he landed at North Lake College where he has been promoting online learning, open source, and especially the Unix operating system ever since.
